Hard difficulty for Grade 1 multiplication means students are expected to apply skip counting to solve unfamiliar or novel situations, not just recite a learned sequence. A 'hard' Count by Tens worksheet likely includes: problems with larger multipliers (e.g., 7 × 10 or 8 × 10 instead of just 2 × 10), word problems that require interpretation, or problems presented in different formats.
